Dashka Stone The Uruals 120 million years ago |
The Discovery:
In 1999 scientists from Bashkir State University discovered a large white slab, weighting about one ton, with a three dimensional relief map of the Ural mountains containing civil engineering works such as channels, weirs and dams as well as hieroglyphic-syllabic inscription of unknown origin. The slab and the relief were not made by stonecutting but by some unknown mechanical means. The scientists have given a date for the slab at 120 million years but admit that this is only an educated guess based on the tectonics of the region and fossilized shells in the slab.
Conclusions:
Very little is found on the internet concerning this discovery aside from the same Pravda article being repeated on site after site. No real discussion by scientists from the either side of the debate have commented on the find. I could only find a few pictures of the object that really did not look like anything. But I did eventually find one article on the Pravda web site which gives a little more detail on the map.
With the lack of scientific evaluation of the stone we are only left with one groups interpretation of the stone slab and its authenticy and antiquity cannot be established with any degree of certainty.
