Stratigraphy

Established Theory:

The lower layers are considered older deposits while the higher layers are considered newer deposits. Changes in the topography such as erosion, or upheavals can change the configuration of the layers.

Alternative Theory:

According to the Young Earth interpretation, the Genesis flood and subsequent global events such as volcanic activity, geysers, upheaval, mountain formations and geographical shifts laid down the various Stratigraphy layers. Therefore, the layers cannot be used to determine age. The article "Assessing Creationist Stratigraphy with Evidence from the Gulf of Mexico" by True.Origins is refuted by the article "Creation Stratigraphy" by "Answers in Creation".
