The Permian Period
290 to 248 Million Years Ago

Start:

Conodont, lowest occurrence of Streptognathodus isolatus within the S. "wabaunsensis" conodont chronocline.

Index Fossils:

Brachiopod and Fusulinid, Trilobites, Graptolites, ammonoids, conodonts, sponges

Evolution:

Large reptiles, amphibians; most species become extinct

Geography:

Supercontinent Pangea, warming climate

Rocks:

Shale, sandstone, siltstone, limestone, sands, marls, dolostones and coal.

Anomalous Fossils:

Human Footprint

This human footprint was found in a permian period (248-290 mya) rock. According to evolutionary theory, the first humans did not evolve until recently, approximately 100,000 years ago. Also found in this permian layer were many large mammal tracks which did not evolve until the Tertiary Period (54-65 mya) according to the Geological Column.

Conclusions:

In Progress
