Every language uses Idioms, a phrase that has no meaning related to the words used in the phrase. In English we use such idioms as "kicked the bucket", "over the hill", "break a leg", "in over my head" and thousands of others. The Hebrew bible is no exception. There are hundreds of idioms which are often taken literally but are in fact meant to be idioms. Without knowing the true meaning of the idioms the text will be misinterpreted. This book is only available in Hebrew but lists hundreds of Idioms with their meanings.
The book summarizes ca. 1100 selected idioms, proverbs and other famous sentences from the entire Old Testament, that were picked up by the author.
The book has four chapters:
Chapter 1: Includes all the idioms organized in alphabetic order with their location in the Bible.
Chapter 2: Is a selection of ca. 650 idioms & Sentences with an explanation of the context of time place background and who told them to whom.
Chapter 3: Includes all the idioms organized according to ca. two hundred different subjects.
Chapter 4: Includes all the idioms organized according to the books of the Old Testament in an alphabetic order, mainly for comparative study and development of the Hebrew language.
The book is mainly intended to people who are interested to find the location or origin of famous Biblical idioms. It may serve students, lawyers, authors, poets and Bible lovers as well.
