The Vimanas

Description: The Rg Veda, the Mahabharata, the Ramayana, and the Puranas are some of the ancient Indian texts written in sanskrit. These texts give suprisingly detailed accounts of airships called vimanas. Detailed descriptions of the ships construction is given by using words which translate as graphite rod, copper coils, crystal indicator, vibrating spheres, stable angles. The texts include details on anti-gravity, invisibility, photography, weapons and inter-planetary travel.

The following excerpt describes the propulsion and movement of the vimana.

Strong and durable must the body of the Vimana be made, like a great flying bird of light material. Inside one must put the mercury engine with its iron heating apparatus underneath. By means of the power latent in the mecrcury which sets the driving whirlwind in motion, a man sitting inside may travel a great distance in the sky. The movements of the Vimana are such that it can vertically ascend, vertically descend, move slanting forwards and backwards. With the help of the machines human beings can fly in the air and heavenly beings can come down to earth.

The following is one the texts which demonstrates the power these ships possessed.

Gurkha, flying in his swift and powerful Vimana, hurled against the three cities of the Vrishnis and Andhakas a single projectile charged with all the power of the universe. An incandescent column of smoke and fire, as brilliant as ten thousand suns, rose in all its splendor. It was the unknown weapon, the iron thunderbolt, a gigantic messenger of death, which reduced to ashes the entire race of the Vrishnis and Andhakas.

The corpses were so burnt they were no longer recognizable. Hair and finger nails fell out, Pottery broke without cause. ... Foodstuffs were poisoned. To escape, the warriors threw themselves in streams to wash themselves and their equipment.

Mainstream Theory: The texts are of Indian mythology written between 300 BCE and 300 CE.

Alternative Theory: It is speculated that the writers of these text may be from an ancient civilization and record actual events from between 15,000 to 26,000 years ago. The texts were originally passed down orally from generation to generation (very common means of textual transmission in ancient times) and finally written down and preserved by Indian Priests. These ancient texts are the remnants of an ancient and lost civilization that existed in Pakistan and India about 15,000 years ago. From the numerous detailed accounts of these air crafts it is very evident that they possessed an amazing amount of knowledge on air and space travel.
